plant monster on new island

We don’t know exactly when the next Poptropica Island will be arriving, but we’re getting more sneak peeks from the Poptropica Creators. The most recent screenshot from the new island was posted today by Hazmat Hermit and it features a picture of a plant monster near some broken machinery in some kind of laboratory area. The last screenshot we saw was back at the beginning of the month when they posted a screenshot called, “Rusty Robot.”

All we know about the plant monster picture is that it was first seen shortly after the Rusty Robot Photo when a poll was posted asking which of two plant sketches were scarier. I guess “Snuggles” won!

skullduggery island is here: it's summer!

Everyone can now play Skullduggery Island on Poptropica. The creators posted on the official blog letting everyone know that it is open and available for the public. Up until today, you had to be a paid member to play it, or have been one of the lucky people that won a contest for early access.

Remember that Skullduggery Island is a lot different than previous Poptropica quests. It starts out with a small simple mission where you need to help the villagers living in Fort Ridley. But once you get your first ship and set sail, the quest opens up and there are lots of different ways you can proceed. The biggest goal is to earn enough doubloons to hire a crew and purchase the Phoenix Warbird ship so that you can defeat Captain Crawfish, but there are many different ways to do that. Check out the walkthrough or the Skullduggery Trading Guide for some more help and suggestions. The best way to earn doubloons is through trading cargo at the different ports, but it’s entirely possible (although a LOT slower) to earn coins by sinking pirate ships
and collecting salvage.

One of the best parts about Skullduggery Island on Poptropica is that you get your own ship and can sail it around from port to port. As you earn more money (called doubloons in the game), you can buy bigger and more powerful ships. Getting bigger ships is important for a few reasons. First, bigger ships can carry more cargo, which means they help you earn money a lot faster. Second, they’re more powerful and allow you to sink other pirate ships and kill nasty sea monsters. Finally, they’re faster, which means you can move more quickly from port to port.

You’ll get your very first “ship” at the end of part one, when you help the citizens of Fort Ridley and reunite the man who has been lost at sea with his wife who has been waiting a long time for his safe return. He gives you his small raft, which you’ll use to set out to sea. But you’ll soon find that it doesn’t hold much cargo and you’ll be running away from pirates. Fortunately, you can upgrade to a better ship pretty quickly.

The Poptropica Creators just posted on the official blog with a picture of some, but not all of the ships you can get. For those of you still waiting to play Skullduggery Island, here’s a guide to all of the ships you can get.
Where to Buy Your Ships

The shipbuilder is located at Dragon Cove, the island in the Northwest corner of your map (upper-left). You’ll need about 3,000 doubloons before you can upgrade to the first ship he sells, the Jimmy Rigger. But once you have the money, it’s worth upgrading right away due to the improved speed, cargo space and of course, the fact that it has a cannon! Whenever you get enough coins to make the next upgrade, it’s worth returning to the shipbuilder to get a new ride.
The Ships
The Raft

The lowly raft is your very first ship. You’ll get it for free at the end of part one in Fort Ridley. You and your first two crew-members will sail in it for at least a few stops before you can upgrade to a bigger boat. It’s cozy, but any sailor worth his salt will upgrade as soon as possible.

Jimmy Rigger

The Jimmy Rigger is a fine ship for starting out. It has 50 “life” or amount of damage it can sustain and it carries 60 cargo, giving you slightly more space for goods than the raft. The real big difference is it has a cannon, which means you can shoot back when attacked. But the Jimmy Rigger is not a good ship to fight with and you’re still better running from danger than fighting. It will cost you about 3,000 doubloons to upgrade.

Carabelle

The Carabelle is a big improvement over the Jimmy Rigger. With 200 cargo space, it’s more than three times the size. It has more life and moves faster, too. Get it as soon as you can. It costs 9,000 doubloons to buy, less the trade-in.

Sea Sultan

Now we’re starting to get into some serious sailing. The Sea Sultan has cargo space of 600, meaning you can pack a lot of spice, medicine, silk and other trading goods. You’ll start to see a lot more profit as you sail from port to port. The ship is slightly faster than the smaller ships, and it has 90 life, so you can take a few more hits. The big benefit is that it has 2 cannon, so while it’s not quite the Queen Anne’s Revenge, you’ve at least got a shot in a fight with a smaller pirate ship. The Sea Sultan will cost you 30,000 doubloons less the value of your trade-in.

The Koi

This beauty triples the cargo capacity of its predecessor, making it a big-time upgrade for traders. It can hold 1,800 cargo. It also moves 33% faster, and comes with 3 cannon and 100 life. You’ll be zipping around from port to port in this ship and all but the biggest pirate ships will be yours to conquer. It will cost you 90,000 doubloons less the trade-in to get, but as soon as you can afford it, this ship is a must-have.

Real traders opt for the Koi with its considerable cargo space.
Steaming Fury

Now we’re talking power. The Steaming Fury is a steam-powered ship (no sails) that has a big improvement in life, with 140 points, 40% more than the Koi. It has a hefty 5,000 cargo space, so you’ll be raking in the profits as you fill the hold. Finally, it combines both speed and power, with a speed rating of 12 and 4 cannon. It costs 300,000 doubloons to buy. It’s not cheap, but getting it soon will improve your profits from trading and allow you to upgrade more quickly to the final ship.

With massive cargo capacity and power, this is one of the most important ship upgrades in Skullduggery Island.
Phoenix Warbird

It’s big. It’s beautiful. It’s a juggernaut with awesome power. It gives you solid improvements over the Steaming Fury, with 180 life, cargo space of 6,000, and a ship speed of 13. It also adds a fifth cannon. While it’s possible to defeat Captain Crawfish with the Steaming Fury, you’ll want to upgrade to the Phoenix Warbird to ensure your success. It costs 1,000,000 doubloons less the value of your trade in. All this power comes at a price, you know.

monster high and schools almost out! whoo hoo!

ow, so many people are talking about the new outfits they’re seeing some girls wearing in the Multi-player and Multi-verse rooms on Poptropica. There was a post on the Creator’s blog a few days ago about it and everyone wants to know where to find the new outfits. It’s kind of tricky, because they come from a new advertisement area in Poptropica and it’s not really open to everyone. To see it, you need to be a girl Poptropica character between the ages of 10 and 12. And I think you’ll only find it in one place: 24 Carrot Island. If your Poptropica character is too young or too old, you won’t see the building.

Of course, if you want to see it, just make a new girl character in Poptropica that is age 10, 11, or 12 and then go to 24-Carrot Island. The advertisement building is on Main Street. Run to the right and you’ll see it. Go inside and then go find the girl standing next to another door inside the building. Click on that door to enter and you’ll see a lot of mannequins
with cool monster outfits on them. You can costumize any of the outfits
on the mannequins or do a little mix-and-match to make your own. When you like what you see, go inside the photo booth and you’ll download a picture of your Poptropican inside the phone booth wearing your outfit

famous pirates- blackbeard

The days until Skullduggery Island becomes available to everyone are quickly ticking down. To help celebrate, I’ve been posting a little bit about famous real pirates in history. Today, we’ll look at one of the most fearsome pirates of all, the notorious Captain Blackbeard.

Born Edward Teach, Blackbeard originally came from Bristol, England. He was a successful and well-known pirate who operated throughout the West Indes and Americas in the early 1700s. He was only active as a pirate for just three years, but in that time he terrorized the waters of the Caribbean and became much-feared.

His first and most famous ship was named the Queen Anne’s Revenge, and this was a name he gave the ship after capturing it from a French crew. He equipped it with 40 guns, making it a dangerous and formidable ship. I bet he could have even taken on Captain Crawfish’s warship in Skullduggery Island. As it is, Blackbeard defeated many large merchant ships and racked up a lot of plunder in just a few short months while active on the high seas.

Blackbeard was of course well known for his ragged and scary appearance, most notably his long black beard. It is said that many sailors who saw him became so afraid that they refused to fight, making things very easy for Blackbeard and his pirate crew.

Blackbeard was finally killed in a huge battle in 1718 while commanding a new ship named the Adventure. While boarding a ship captained by the pirate hunter Lt. Maynard, Blackbeard and his men were surprised by several sailors who had hidden below decks. In the ensuing battle, Blackbeard was shot several times. His head was cut off and hung from the sails of the ship to serve as a warning to other pirates.

froot lupes ad walkthrough

There is a new advertisement mission available for younger Poptropicans on Main Street in most of the islands. It’s an advertisement for Froot Loops and it contains a very short game where you need to catch Froot Loops cereal that shoots out of a fountain inside a temple using a bowl that Toucan Sam gives you. Then you need to catch the villain, a giant fish named the Selfish Fruit Master. Really. I’m not making this up.

To play, you need to be between the ages of 6 and 9. Don’t forget that you can always make a mule or temporary new character if your main Poptropican is too old. Go to Early Poptropica island and then walk a little to the right and you’ll see the Froot Loops temple. Go inside and speak with the big Toucan (Toucan Sam) and he will give you the bowl to catch the Froot Loops in.

To win the mission, just go up a level and click on the fountain to start the game. It will play for 60 seconds and you need to catch at least twenty Froot Loops by walking over them. It’s very easy because after about 30 seconds or so, they’ll all start to collect on the bottom level and you can run over them all to get 20 in no time at all. The Selfish Fruit Master will sometimes appear and if he hits you, you’ll lose some of the cereal in your bowl but not very much.

After the 60 seconds are over and you’ve found at least 20 Froot Loops, the Selfish Fruit Master says you have to catch him. This is really easy. Just stay put and eventually he runs into you. End of mission! The rewards are a Fruit Master costume just like the woman outside the temple is wearing and a special Fruit Fountain Power card that makes it rain cereal wherever you are.

Aaaaaarrr! There are less than two weeks until Skullduggery Island launches for the public on Poptropica. Until now, only members and lucky winners of the Skullduggery Island contest have been able to play. It’s one of the biggest islands on Poptropica so far. The best part of Skullduggery is that it’s all about pirates, and in this adventure you must defeat the notorious Captain Crawfish and his pirate crew.

In celebration of the coming launch, here is a look at some of the most famous pirates in history and literature. Let’s start with one of the best-known of all, Long John Silver.

Long John Silver was the captain of the pirates in the book, Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. He was the quartermaster of his ship and served under the notorious pirate, Captain Flint. In this story, Long John Silver has a plan to recruit several other pirates to find some of Flint’s long lost treasure. His plan is to lead a mutiny on board a ship, the Hispaniola once the treasure is found.

Long John Silver has a talking parrot, also named Captain Flint, and is missing a leg so he hobbles around on a crutch. He is one of the most famous pirates from stories and many pirates from movies and television, as well as other books, are based upon him.

The Poptropica store has been updated with a fun Friday surprise for the summertime. It’s not quite Summer yet, but now you can celebrate in style with the Mythology Surfer Outfit. This outfit is probably inspired by the surfing scene in Mythology Island when you head towards Poseidon’s domain. The surfer costume can be purchased in the store for credits (it’s free if you’re a Poptropica Member).

There are three different versions of the costume that you can use, the Zeus edition (red and yellow outfit and board with a lightning bolt), the Poseidon edition (pink and blue outfit and board with a trident) and the Hades edition (purple and green outfit and board with a skull). Each outfit has a top and a bottom and a special necklace, too.

If you press the spacebar while holding the surfboard, your Poptropican will hold up the board and smile.

There’s a sneak peek image on an upcoming Poptropica adventure on the official Poptropica blog this week. The picture is called “Rusty Robot” and very little detail is provided. The post on the blog is from Master Mime and here’s what he has to say about it:

I received special instruction to reveal to you this mysterious image. Be wise. With this small piece of information you could save the future of Poptropica. Your mission, for now, is to wait patiently until further notice.

It’s not really clear whether this is a sneak peek of a full new island quest or part of something smaller, like a mini-mission. It does look a little like the earlier sketches that Poptropica posted at the beginning of February. The name of that post was called, “Tall Tales” so maybe that’s the name of a new island?

killer tips for skullduggery island

Once you get your map pieces in Poptropica Skullduggery Island, your next major goal is to earn the mighty warship and assemble your crew so that you can fight Captain Crawfish and then go on to find the secret buried treasure. But getting your warship isn’t easy and it’s very expensive. You’ll need a lot of doubloons to upgrade your ship and hire all of your crewmembers. Fortunately, it won’t take very long at all to earn enough doubloons through trade. I explained this briefly in my Skullduggery Island walkthrough video, but since a lot of people are asking questions in the comments about how to earn doubloons quickly, I thought I’d explain it in a lot more detail here.

The Basics
To earn money through trade, just remember one thing: buy low, sell high. You want to purchase goods from the ports at their lowest possible price and then sell them at different ports at their highest possible price. This gives you the most profit and seriously speeds up the process. Fortunately, the different ports have pretty stable prices and each port has a specific good that you can buy at a very low price and another good that you can sell at a very high price. Even better, the ports line up in a nice circular pattern. Here’s how it works:

So you can start in Bouffant Bay and just keep sailing clockwise in a big circle from port to port. Always buy the maximum amount of the low priced cargo you can at each port and then sell the maximum at the next port. That’s really all there is to it! Here’s a simple diagram that shows the pattern:

Upgrade Your Ship
You’ll start off your trading on your rinky dink raft that the returning villager from Fort Ridley gives to you. You’ll want to trade up to the next ship as soon as you can because this tiny little boat doesn’t carry much cargo. If you’ve got the Cargo Master, then you’ll probably be able to earn enough profits each loop around the ports that you make. Sometimes you’ll need to do two loops. But each time you have enough money for a new ship, stop inside the ship builder’s shop in Dragon Cove and upgrade. The difference in cargo capacity between the different ships is huge, and always sailing the biggest ship you can will lead to the most profits. Here’s what each of the ships cost. Note that the actual cost is a little bit lower because you can trade in your existing ship for a small discount each time.

Get the Cargo Master Soon
One of the crew members is the Cargo Master. When he’s on board your ship, you can carry 50% more cargo than before and that means much faster profits. You can find him inside Willard’s Warehouse in Bouffant Bay. It only costs 15,000 doubloons to hire him, so hire him early on. It makes sense to hire him right after you upgrade to the Carabelle or Sea Sultan ship.

funny clouds

As you’re sailing from port to port in Skullduggery Island to do your trading at all the ports or to recover all five pieces of the map, you’ll pass by a lot of different clouds over the sea. Most of them are harmless, and some need to be avoided, like the dark gray thunderstorm clouds that can damage your ship.

But the Poptropica creators also had a little fun with some of the clouds. If you sail around long enough, you’ll find some very mysterious shapes for some of the clouds, like the dog bone cloud pictured above. I’ve also seen a heart shaped cloud and a smiley emoticon. Have you seen any others? Post any strange and funny cloud spottings in the comment section!

It’s here at last for paid members in early access mode. Check out my Cheats for Skullduggery Island post for all the cheats and tips, including the walkthroughs.

I’ve got part one finished with a video walkthrough to help you figure out Fort Ridley (the first part.) The other island walkthroughs are coming really soon! I’ve already got the map complete and am busy trading to earn enough coins to buy a big enough ship! So far this quest is definitely the best one on Poptropica. There are a lot of great secrets and it’s huge!

poptropica prom uniforms

It’s that time of the year where proms happen in high schools all over the country. Now you can dress up your Poptropican in a prom outfit. There are two new outfits in the Poptropica store. There’s a tuxedo for boys and a prom dress for girls. You can buy them with credits or get them for free with a Poptropica membership.

The boy’s tuxedo comes in a choice of four colors: white, purple, orange or powder poptropica blue. The tuxedo features a snazzy top hat and a bow-tie. There’s also a baton that you can twirl when you press the space bar for the added effect. You’ll look perfect for your prom date with this classy penguin suit on.

The girl’s prom dress features a very nice two-piece gown, a golden heart tiara and a fancy hairdo. There are also some classy earrings. There is no special item like you get with the boy’s tuxedo, but you’ll look ravishing in this beautiful outfit.

Should there be a Poptropica Prom? If they had one, would it be called the Promtropica? Where would you take your prom date in Poptropica? In the photo above, we stopped off at the B.A.D. skulldugery island cheats

Aaar! It be official. The lucky thirteenth island for Poptropica be named Skullduggery Island and the release be comin’ Thursday, May 20 for paid Poptropica members only. All ye landlubber non-members be havin’ to wait until the middle o’ June.

Skullduggery Island will be all about pirates. You’ll get your own ship, assemble a crew and try to build wealth through trade at different ports. You’ll also help the island get rid of a pirate nuisance, led by the dangerous and dastardly pirate, Captain Crawfish. This new island will be more complex than previous Poptropica quests and among lots of other things it will include a very cool top-down view as you travel from place to place. And to keep it interesting, you’ll have to fight other pirate ships and even sea monsters.

Here’s a trailer that shows a preview of all the action!

Don’t forget to check back here on Thursday, May 20 for the Poptropica Skullduggery Island walkthrough, and all the secrets, tips and cheats for Skullduggery Island. Aaaar, me mateys! We cannot wait!

Skullduggery Island is getting close. The creators still haven’t announced the early access date for paid members, but we know it will happen sometime this month. It could be really soon! In the meantime, they updated the official Poptropica blog with a screenshot of a birds-eye view of Main Street on Skullduggery Island.

There’s definitely a bird theme developing on this island. Past screenshots have shown a boat with bird features, like a bird’s head on the bow and even a bag of bird seed next to a ship at it’s christening. That last one was posted on the Poptropica page on Facebook.

And now this latest post by Captain Crawfish on the creators’ blog notes that this is a bird’s-eye view. So what’s the deal with all the bird references? Soon enough we’ll find out.

Poptropica updated the Flower Power card that is available in the Poptropica Store to include a flower costume. So now when you’re traveling through the islands of Poptropica spreading goodwill and springtime cheer by placing flowers in the ground, you can do it in this silly but stylish flower outfit.

medusa hair glitch

Here’s an interesting glitch in Poptropica. A few days ago, I wrote about the Medusa card from the store, which you can use on any other character in the game. The power has been around for a while in the Poptropica Store, but it’s becoming popular again because of the appearance of the Medusa in Mythology Island. Thank you CYOArocks88 for pointing this glitch out!

A few people have noticed that there’s a glitch with this power when you use it on Poptropicans who have beards and other facial hair. When you cast the Medusa power on them, snakes appear in their hair as normal, but whatever beard or facial hair they had immediately disappears. Take a look at what happens when you use the power on Aeolus, the God of the Winds. He is at the bottom of Mount Olympus and sells you a bag of wind for one drachma, which allows you to get to the top of the mountain to fight Zeus.

Wow, those snakes must have razor blades for teeth!

It also works on Bucky Lucas in the motel on Reality TV Island. Use the Medusa power on him and his facial hair disappears!

Bucky was looking bad with that stubble, but now he's clean-shaven. Of course, he's got a new problem now.

Late in the quest for Mythology Island on Poptropica, you and Hercules will encounter the Medusa, one of the most dangerous creatures from Greek Mythology. In Poptropica, she quickly turns Hercules to stone and he becomes a statue. All of this happens during one of those cut-scene moments in the game where your cursor turns into a spinning circle. This means you can’t use the always popular costumizer feature to copy the Medusa’s look.

But wait, what’s this? How come you can see Poptropicans in the multi-verse rooms wearing Medusa’s snake hair? And more importantly, what secrets and Poptropica cheats did they use to get it? Aha, it’s not a cheat or secret at all, but an older item from the Poptropica store. Back last year (June to be exact), the Poptropica creators released a bunch of new items into the Poptropica store and one of them was Medusa hair. I guess they were already thinking about Mythology Island back then. It’s an item that you can use on anyone in the game, including yourself.

You can use the Medusa hair on yourself or any other Poptropican you see.

You can still get the item in the Poptropica store for credits or for free if you’re a paid member. Get it now and have some fun.

limited edition pirate costumes! Get yours today!

The new Poptropica Skullduggery Pirate costume has been released to paid members in the game. This is a limited edition item and you will get it automatically when you log into the game. Just remember that you have to be a paid member and you must login before May 15 to get it.

Arrr! My costume is grey. I must have used too much detergent.
The costume will appear in your backpack and is usable from any island menu when you open your backpack up. Click on the costume you use it and the familiar costumizer will appear. Highlights for the new Skullduggery Pirate outfit include a great tricorn pirate hat, an eyepatch and scar, a gold tooth, a cutlass and pistol belt, and a bandana. Boy characters even get a beard, which is really rare in Poptropica.

You can choose between four different colors for the costume, although it looks like there’s a bug when you show off your new outfit using the Poptropica Avatar Studio. The entire costume is grey! Also, when you press the spacebar, your pirate will smile and twirl the cutlass.

Help for The Hard Parts
I’ll have a full written walkthrough very soon, but in the meantime, here are some answers to some of the frequently asked questions about Mythology Island. Having trouble? Post a question in the comments and I’ll try to answer it!

Getting Hercules to Help You
Hercules won’t help you until you have all five items from Zeus’ quest. Once you have the five items, bring them to Athena. Zeus will appear and steal them. The big jerk! Once this happens, talk to Athena and she will tell you that Hercules will help you. You’ll need to have the magic mirror from Aphrodite because Hercules doesn’t want to have to walk. He’s so lazy!

Getting the Hydra Scale
You can see how to do this in the videos, but basically you need to jump up when the Hydra is about to strike. He will rear one of his heads back to attack and his eyes will bulge out. When this happens, jump up in the air and then try to land on top of his head. That head will get knocked out. When all five heads get knocked out, the Hydra will be asleep and you can click on him to get one of the scales.

Thump goes the Hydra.

Getting the Whisker from Cerberus
You’ll need the reed pipe you used to get into the Minotaur’s lair. You’ll also need to learn a song from one of the statues inside Apollo’s temple, where you found the reed pipe. Click on the statue that is holding a reed pipe and she will teach you a special song. When you pass her test, you’ll get a card in your backpack that shows the notes to play. Go to the Underworld and walk up to Cerberus. Play the notes you see on the card using your reed pipe and the big three-headed dog will fall asleep. Then just click on one of his whiskers to get it.

One of the best things about Poptropica is the Costumizer feature, which allows you to immediately copy just about any costume you see a Poptropican wearing while you adventure around the islands on your quests. Although most of the outfits that Poptropicans are wearing are kind of ordinary, there are some really great costumes that you can find on some of the starter islands. All of them are pretty easy to get and don’t require too much effort. A little later, I’ll highlight some extremely cool costumes to find in some of the more advanced islands like Astro-Knights and Counterfeit Island, but for now let’s stick with the easy ones!

Shark Boy

Who doesn’t love Shark Boy? This is a great costume to get and it even comes complete with a dorsal fin. Plus, Shark Boy is ridiculously easy to find. Just go to Shark Tooth Island and walk over to the Shark Museum on the right. Go inside and you’ll find Shark Boy looking mighty depressed at the bottom of the museum. One quick click on the Costumizer and this shark outfit is all yours. Fish not included.

Leonardo da Vinci

This one is probably the easiest to get. In Early Poptropica Island, there’s a Pop Art museum just to the left. Walk inside and you’ll get to meet Leonardo da Vinci, Pablo Picasso, and Vincent Van Gogh. You can costumize any of them, but unfortunately you’ll learn something very important about the costumizer: you can’t costumize facial hair. Although the Leonardo look is a little incomplete without the cool beard, the outfit is kind of nice. It looks best with the jet pack you get up in the clouds near the giant. Leonardo would have loved to fly this way.

I'm not sure Leonardo da Vinci had this in mind when inventing his flying machine.

Viking Armor

This one’s a little more challenging than the others, but still pretty easy to get. Head to Time Tangled Island and start your quest. There are a few steps you need to do before you can get this one. They are:

Using your compass, go to the Statue of Liberty in 1882 A.D.
Climb up to the very top platform of the wooden stilts. Jump to your left. You will land on a ledge. You’ll find a notebook is on the ledge below that.
Use your compass to travel to da Vinci’s workshop in 1516 A.D.
Go inside the workshop and find da Vinci (the guy with the beard) and give him the notebook. He’ll give you a glider as a reward.
Use your compass to travel to the Viking times in 831 A.D.
Jump up the tall mountain to the right of the beach. Put on the glider. Stand as close to the edge as you can and leap to the right. If you’re wearing the glider, you’ll float to another ledge and the armor will be waiting for you there.
Now you’re ready to lead your viking army into battle!

Ah, the Viking life.

Mountain Climber Gear

This costume is also in Time Tangled Island, and it’s a little easier to get than the Viking Armor. For this one, just head to 1953 A.D. and then start climbing up the mountain. You’ll need to navigate over some ledges and chasms. Once you get near the top, you’ll also want to watch out for falling icicles, but overall it’s not too difficult to get there. You’ll arrive on top of the world and find two mountain climbers at the peak. One of them is Sir Edmund Hillary and the other is his sherpa, Tenzing Norgay. This costume is actually a combination of the two. For some reason, you can’t costumize Sir Edmund’s goggles, only Tenzing’s can be worn. And I liked the blue backpack better than the brown one.

how to get pomegranate seed

Pretty much everyone knows by now that Poptropica Mythology Island is now available for everyone to play. One of the big questions that everyone is asking is how to get the pomegranate. You’ll need this item to get into the Underworld and complete your quest for Zeus. Getting the pomegranate is actually pretty easy, but you have to know where to look and exactly how to jump up to get there. Here’s a little step-by-step guide to show you exactly how to do it:

First, go to the Garden of the Sphinx, which is to the left of the Tree of Immortality.
Jump onto the platform to the right of the sphinx.
Jump again to the right to the next platform.
Jump up and to the right to land on the platform with the rope and sign for the aqueducts.
Now jump up and to the left.
Jump up and to the left one more time.
If all goes well, you should be standing on a platform with a fruit tree and a sign that says, “Free! You pick ‘em. You keep ‘em.” Jump up to the fruits to collect some pomegranates. You’re on your way to Hades!

skulldugery island!

The Poptropica Creators confirmed what we reported last week: a new pirate-themed island is coming and it will be called Skullduggery Island. The official Poptropica blog has a very cool-looking wallpaper that you can download. They also created a promotional page for the new island that you can see here.

Not many details are given, but the promotional page says:

Set sail for adventure! Outwit cunning pirates and battle fierce sea monsters in the biggest Poptropica quest yet. Build your ship. Assemble your crew. Rule the sea!

OK, there’s no specific release date given but we do learn some very important things.

* It will be coming out sometime in May in Early Access. Probably June for everyone else.
* This quest will be huge. If it’s the biggest one yet, expect it to be longer and more complicated than Astro-Knights Island
* Once again, you’ll need to be a paid member for early access.

Only a few more days until Poptropica Mythology Island becomes available to everyone to play. If you haven’t see the Mythology Island Walkthrough yet, check it out to get help with solving this fun island quest.

In the meantime, we’ll continue our spotlight on some of the Gods and creatures from Greek mythology that you’ll find during your quest on Poptropica Mythology Island.
The Minotaur

The Minotaur is one of the most famous beats in all of Greek Mythology. The Minotaur was a creature with the head of a bull on the body of a man and he lived deep inside a giant Labyrinth, or maze, on the island of Crete. He was the offspring of another creature known as the Cretan Bull and of Pasiphaë, the wife of King Minos of Crete. When the Minotaur grew up to be dangerous, King Minos had him placed inside a giant labyrinth constructed by the famous architect Daedalus.

The Minotaur lived there, devouring prisoners sent into the labyrinth until the Athenian hero Theseus killed him with the sword of Aegeus. Theseus was helped in his quest by Ariadne, the daughter of King Minos. She gave him a ball of thread that allowed him to retrace his steps through the giant maze.

In Poptropica, you’ll encounter the Minotaur in the early part of your quest. On Mythology Island, he’s guarding the outside of a maze, and you don’t need to kill him (and he doesn’t try to eat you). Instead, he offers to give you the ring from his nose if you can find your way out of his maze. The ring is one of the five objects you need to complete your mission from Zeus. When you enter the maze, you’ll get the magic thread from Athena, which just like Theseus, will allow you to retrace your steps if you get lost.

If you take a look at the Poptropica Creators Blog, you’ll see a recent post with a new sneak peek screenshot for the upcoming island about Pirates. The picture looks like a Chinese Junk in a harbor and the caption reads:

Ahoy! We’ve been sailin’ the high seas for more Poptropica adventures! Arr…what be this new port?

If you really pay attention, though, and either download the picture like I did or look at the HTML source code, you’ll see that the name of the image file is SkullduggeryIsland01.png. Unless the Creators are trying to fool us (which they might) it sounds like this new pirate-themed island coming up will be called:

Skull Duggery Island
Tada! I hope that is a name because it’s the best one I have heard so far. By the way, the phrase skullduggery is an old pirate phrase that means underhanded or unscrupulous behavior.

The Poptropica Creators are busy working on yet another new island quest. With the public release of Mythology Island less than two weeks away, the creators posted a sneak peek screenshot to the Poptropica blog and Facebook Fan page. It shows some characters dressed in pirate and soldier gear. There’s also a clue with the caption they left:

Ahoy! What “arr” the Poptropica Creators up to this time?

CoderKid over at the PHB thinks the official name of the island will be Pirate Trade Island. That name sounds kind of goofy, but CoderKid usually knows his stuff. We’ll have to wait and see for now, but no matter what the final name of the island is, there will definitely be pirates. Yay!

Want to get an early start on celebrating the new island release? Don’t forget there’s a pirate captain outfit available in the Poptropica store. It costs 75 credits and is free for paid members.

energy hog

The new Earth Day mini-quest, Don’t Be an Energy Hog is now available in the Poptropica Store. It is a free item, so anyone can play it and the first time you finish the quest, you’ll get 50 credits as a prize, along with an Earth Day t-shirt.

The quest is very simple. You go inside the house and then you have 60 seconds to turn off as many of the appliances as you can that the energy hogs who live inside have turned on. But there’s a catch: every so often, these energy hogs will walk back across the room and turn all the appliances back on. So you need to keep going back and forth. Your goal is to keep the household’s energy use inside the blue “acceptable” area on the meter at the bottom of the screen. The inside of the house looks a lot like the one they made for the Spy Next Door advertisement mission and the mini-quest is very similar.

Turn off as many of the appliances as you can and try to keep them off.

When you complete the quest and end the 60 seconds with the meter in the acceptable range, you’ll win and get your prizes. The green Earth Day t-shirt looks really cool! You can repeat the mini-quest as many times as you like, but you only get the 50 credits and the t-shirt the first time.

This mini-quest is free to play from the Poptropica Store.

There’s a new mysterious post on the Poptropica Creators Blog about something new that’s coming up for Earth Day. It’s going to encourage everyone to stop being an energy hog. It sounds like there will probably be a new mini-quest available inside the Poptropica Store. And it will probably have something to do with reducing energy use. That’s kind of an easy guess, huh?

Next week we will celebrate Earth Day. Be watching the store soon for a new FREE experience that will help you save the planet.
So what exactly is an ENERGY HOG? Don’t worry. You’ll find out soon.

Aprodite gods quiz

This is pretty much spelled out in part 3 of the videos for my Poptropica Mythology Island Walkthrough, but a lot of people are commenting about having problems with Aphrodite’s quiz about the different Gods. When you go to Poseidon’s domain, you’ll find Aphrodite on the beach. She’ll give you a special mirror that you can use to teleport between the different areas in the game, which saves you a lot of travel time. But before you get the mirror, you need to get all the answers to her quiz right. Here are the correct answers in order:

ARES
HERMES
APHRODITE
ARTEMIS
HESTIA
P.S. If you watch the video walkthrough you’ll see I forgot the last one but remembered on my last try! Hestia is the goddess of the hearth. She is the sister of Zeus, Poseidon and Hades, and was one of the original twelve Olympians. But she gave up her throne to Dionysus so that she could tend the hearth and sacred fire of Mount Olympus.

totem jump on Reality TV Island

Totem Hop is one of the easiest challenges in Reality TV Island, but there are some good tips, tricks and good old fashioned Poptropica cheats that you can use to make sure you’re the last one standing in the game. The idea is simple: you need to stand on a totem until it starts shaking, and then quickly leap off it to another one before it drops, sending you into the water. You just need to watch carefully and click on another totem immediately when yours starts to shake.

Here are a few tips. First, it’s generally easier to play this game while standing in the center of the board, where there are a lot of totems packed closely together. Second, keep your cursor ready on a different totem than the one you’re standing on. That way, once yours begins to shake, you just need to click, instead of move and click. And of course, if the empty totem you’re waiting for starts to shake, just move the cursor to a different totem.

Here’s a marked-up screenshot to demonstrate what I’m talking about. Do this and you should win this challenge every time!

Hang Glider is a new challenge that was introduced when Reality TV Island went out of early access mode and became available to all players in Poptropica. In this game, you and the other contestants are all on hang gliders. You need to avoid the flying birds and the volcano eruptions and be the last player flying.

This is a pretty easy game if you follow a few simple tips. First, all you need to do is move your hang glider up and down or left and right using your mouse. Next, stay away from the birds that appear and make sure you fly high above the volcano when it appears to avoid the lava that shoots up from it. The key strategy to use here is to stay as far to the left of the screen as you can so that you have plenty of time to see the birds when they appear. Most people should have no problems at all with this challenge.

You know the helicopter that appears on Reality TV Island at the end on top of the motel? It’s the one that you take to go compete on the show. Well, in case you haven’t noticed, you can jump up on top of the helicopter rotors and do some silly things. Try jumping onto the middle and you’ll spin around incredibly fast. You can also move a little bit out onto either side and you’ll run like you’re on a treadmill. It’s a really cute and funny touch that the Poptropica creators put into the island. Check it out in this video:

new knight costumes

This week Poptropica released four new knight costumes in the Poptropica Store. Two are for girls and two are for boys. Girls can choose between a new Astro Knight costume, the Heart Astro Knight and a Dark Knight costume. Boys also have a Dark Knight costume, and can get a Earth Astro Knight outfit.

The Heart Astro Knight outfit shoots out a stream of pink hearts wherever you go. The Earth Astro Knight outfit leaves behind a trail of, well, leaves. All four costumes let you raise and lower your helmet lid by pressing the space bar. The costumes each cost 75 credits as usual and paid Poptropica members can get them for free.

poptropica mythology island arrives!

No joke (I hope)! Mythology Island opens up later today in Early Access mode for paid members on Poptropica. The Mythology Island promo page on the Poptropica web site was updated recently with the release dates. Members can play starting sometime today and then the general public gets access on April 29, 2010. That’s a long way off–almost a whole month, so it’s very similar to what they did with Reality TV Island. The long wait is designed to convince people to buy a membership. What do you think? Will you purchase a membership to get early access to Mythology Island?

Reality Tv Island Open for everyone today

The newest island in Poptropica, Reality TV Island, opens up today for all players. For the past month, it has only been available to paid members. A lot of people have been waiting a long time to play the island, and today is your big day! If you haven’t seen my Poptropica Reality TV Island Walkthrough yet, check it out. The video shows you how to get through the first part of the quest and become a contestant on the TV show. It also shows how to solve many of the competitions you’ll have during the game show portion of the quest.

Poptropica Reality TV Island is coming out for everyone on March 24. Paid members have been able to play it for the past month, and you may have already seen my Reality TV Island Walkthrough. A neat part about Reality TV Island is that each time you play it, you’ll get a slightly different adventure due to all the different games you can play in the TV competition. With that in mind, I’m putting together a series of quick posts that have Poptropica cheats and secrets for each of the different games you get in the competition. Here’s the first one, a guide to the Pole Climb Game.

Winning at Pole Climb
Pole Climb is a pretty simple game. The object is to be the first player to reach the top. You should click on the pole to your left or right to switch between poles. You do NOT need to click to move up the pole. That just happens automatically. The key is to move in time to avoid the falling coconuts. In general, it’s best to stay on the two middle poles as much as possible so that you can always have the option to jump left or right. Wait for the coconut to appear above you on your pole before moving and then (obviously) go in the direction of a pole that doesn’t already have a coconut falling down it.

Pole Climb is one of the easiest games and if you are lucky (like I was) you’ll get it as one of your final games in the competition. Even with just a little practice, you should win this one every time.

lightning staff!

To celebrate the announcement of the upcoming Poptropica Mythology Island, the creators made a new item in the Poptropica Store. It’s the lightning staff and it looks really cool. When you hold it, it has a faint glow with sparkles that animate around it. Press the spacebar to activate it and the screen will go dark as thunderclouds move overhead. Then, you will see several fiery hot lightning strikes come down to the ground around you!

This is definitely one of the coolest items to come out in Poptropica in a while.

The new lightning staff is available in the Poptropica Store for 250 credits. Paid members can get it for free while their membership is active.

It costs 250 credits, but if you are a paid member, you get it for free. It’s a short mission that is very much like the Race to Witch Mountain advertisement mission from last year. In fact, the whole idea and a lot of the background artwork is taken directly from that mission.

In this version, Dr. Hare has built a Rabbot suit for one of his evil plans and you need to steal it. The only way to open the case is to retrieve three colored access cards. If you can complete the mission, you’ll get a reward of 50 credits and you will be able to access and costumize the Rabbot suit. It’s a great deal if you’re a member since there’s no credit cost to do the mission. But if you’re not a member, it doesn’t seem like it’s worth it to do the whole mission for 250 credits only to win 50 at the end…especially if you already did the Race to Witch Mountain advertisement mission last year.

Finally a written walkthrough!

When you first arrive at the mission, run to the right and jump up the ledges. You’ll see a metal door underneath a sign with Dr. Hare’s rabbit logo. Click on it to enter. Once you’re inside, run to the right and jump across the moving platform. Leap to the right and you’ll land on a platform with a guy wearing a pink labcoat and pink eyepatch. Talk to him to learn more about this mission and what you need to do.

Next, drop down to the level below and then click on the huge red doors to enter the second room in the secret lab. This is where you will try to get the three colored access cards you need to unlock the case that holds the Rabbot suit.

When you arrive inside the next room, walk to the right and then wait for the yellow electric beam to pause. Then jump to the right and go down. There is a brown crate on the platform below you. Push it to the right so that it drops down and lands on the same platform as the blue gateway switch button. Then push it to the left until it covers the button. This will unlock the barrier to the blue access card, which you’ll get a little later.

Next, jump up a few platforms and get onto the moving platform that travels up and down. There is another crate on this moving platform. Wait until you see the platform with another gateway switch to the right and then push this crate onto it. Keep pushing it all the way to the right until it covers the red button. Now wait for the moving platform to return, and jump onto it. Run or jump immediately to the left and then stand behind the crate of carrots so that the guard who is patrolling here won’t be able to see you. Wait for both the guard on this platform and the one above to pass and then quickly leap up to the next platform and then do a long jump up and to the right to land on the platform with the red card. Walk over to the card to pick it up.

Jump back down and hide behind the carrots again and wait once more for the guards to pass. Now jump up two platforms and then wait for the electric beam to pause so you can run through it. Run to the left and jump down (watch out for the guard) and there will be another moving platform with a crate on it. Ride this platform until you see another gateway switch sign on the platform to your left. Push the crate onto this platform and then push it all the way to the wall so that it covers the purple button.

Jump back onto the moving platform and ride it all the way to the top. Grab the purple key card from the platform on the top left and then jump all the way down near the bottom. You’ll see the blue access card on one of the platforms below. Go pick it up and you’ve got all three cards! Move to the right and wait for the moving platform here. Ride it up and then head right and back on the platforms to return to the entry door. Go through it to return to the first room.

Now just ride the big moving platform up a level and go back to where the scientist and the rabbot suit are. Click on the case holding the suit and it will open. The scientist will thank you for helping. Your reward will be 50 credits and you can costumize the rabbot suit.

New Rock Star Outfit in Poptropica Store

There are two new Rock Star outfits available in the Poptropica Store (one for girls and one for boys). They’re officially called the Rock Star 2 costumes because they’re an update to the original Rock Star outfit from last year. The new outfits look pretty cool and have a different electric guitar. When you hit the spacebar while holding the guitar, you’ll rock out! Just like with most outfits, they cost 75 credits to purchase. If you’re a Poptropica member, you can get the outfit for free. There are five different colors for the new Rock Star 2 outfit (the original only had three to choose from).

You can still purchase the original Rock Star outfit from the store and it also costs 75 credits. Here’s a look at the original outfit and card. I don't know, the new rock star outfit looks kindaf deranged if you know what I mean. The electric guitar looks cool but it looks a little scary and sad if you ask me.

There hasn’t been much news in Poptropica since the early access release of Reality TV Island, but now there’s a mysterious post on the Creator’s blog talking about a new micro-quest that will be released soon in the Poptropica Store. Here is what Vlad the Viking has to say on the official blog:

It seems that a certain character is up to his old tricks again. I can’t say I wish that he would stop it, because stopping him will be so much fun! Keep ever watchful, because this new micro-quest will be coming soon to the Poptropica store!

As you can tell from the picture, this definitely has something to do with Dr. Hare, the evil bunny villain from 24 Carrot Island. When that quest finished up, Dr. Hare was launched into space in his rocket, which was (we thought) destroyed. But Dr. Hare is alive and planning something sinister. I hope everyone will be able to play this new micro-quest with credits or for free instead of having to be a paid member but who knows?

reality tv island launch date set

The big upcoming news is that the newest island in Poptropica, Reality TV Island, will arrive for members next Wednesday, February 24. You must be a paid Poptropica member to get early access to the island. You won’t be able to buy early access with credits, like we were able to with Astro-Knights Island and Counterfeit Island. The island will stay in early access for an entire month and become publicly available on March 24.

A whole month in early access seems really long. I guess Poptropica really wants people to buy those memberships! Check back here on Wednesday to get the walkthrough and all the Poptropica cheats and secrets for the new Reality TV island!
But right now I can only say one thing: Stupid creators! Vote on the poll to agree

Valentines day special: love potion and heart costume!

There are two new items in the Poptropica Store to celebrate Valentine’s Day. The first is the Big Hearted costume, which is basically just a big pink heart. It reminds me a lot of the recent Candy Cane costume or some of the older fries and shake costumes. The costume costs 75 credits if you want to purchase it. If you’re a member, you can wear it for free.

The second item is the love potion power. You can use it on any character in Poptropica and then little floating hearts will start appearing above them. It’s love at first sight! The power costs 250 credits in the Poptropica store and of course is free to use if you’re a monthly subscriber.

Midas touch power

There’s a new power available in the Poptropica Store called Midas Touch. It costs 250 credits to purchase, and of course Poptropica Members get it for free. You can use it on yourself or any character you see in Poptropica. Using the power makes the Poptropican turn gold with a little golden glow. Beyond that, it doesn’t do very much but it looks kind of cool!

There’s a new advertisement mission up for some of the islands. You need to be between 7 and 12 to see it and it’s only on some of the islands, like Shark Tooth and 24 Carrot. The ad is for Super Monkey Ball and the game is very simple. You have to collect 55 bananas from the machine in 60 seconds. It’s very easy to do if you just move around and try to find large bunches of bananas. Get it? Bunches of bananas. Yeah, ummm…

What? No walkthrough? How can this be? We want you poptropicans to firgure it our on your own. It's easy! Right? The first person who emails us their walkthrough will recieve a free membership! A strange new island?

While we’re all eagerly awaiting the early access release of Reality TV Island, the Poptropica Creators posted a sketch showing scenes from another upcoming island. Very little about it is revealed. The post is by Hazmat Hermit and all he says is:

Yesterday Vlad showed me some sketches he made of one of the strangest islands yet. These can’t possibly be real, can they?

The filename is structureSketches.jpg which means that the pictures are of some sort of building. They look very space-age in their appearance, so I don’t think it’s got anything to do with the Mythology Island that has shown up in the blog recently. This could be yet another island in the works. The membership site hints that a lot of new islands will be released in 2010.

BTW, CoderKid over at the PHB says that he’s got confirmation that to get early access to Reality TV Island and all future islands you’ll need to be a member. This means you won’t be able to purchase or use credits to get an early access pass. If that’s true, that would be really unfair for anyone who bought lots of credits before membership was announced. Hopefully they’ll let anyone who bought credits previously use them for Early Access, but we’ll see.

Poptropica Honey Nut Cheerios Honey Defender

The latest advertisement going on in Poptropica is an ad for the Honey Nut Cheerios Honey Defender video game. This advertisement will appear for everyone in Poptropica. There’s not really much to do besides jump around inside the hive, watch a video of the game, and get a costume. You can click on a link to play the game, but it’s not on Poptropica. You’ll go instead to the Funbrain web site where you can play the game if you have the Unity plug-in for your browser. There’s also a quiz you can do about the game, but there’s no prize.

The Buzz Costume inside the Honey Nut Cheerios Ad

So this whole ad is kind of pointless. It’s really just an advertisement with no real game to play. The Buzz bee costume is pretty good though and makes it worth checking out. To get the costume, go inside and jump up to the left and you can then click on the bee mannequin to put it on.

The Creators put up a promo video on their blog that introduces an upcoming Poptropica Membership. It looks like this will be kind of like membership on Club Penguin, where certain things are only available to paid members.

The video doesn’t give many details about what memberships will provide or what might get taken away from free access. It says that members will get at least the following:

Early Island Access
Unlimited Costumes
Every Gold Card (the special powers and abilities)
So really it just sounds like a different way of getting those things instead of buying credits at the store.

There are two new items in the Poptropica Store this week. The first is the American Football Player costume, which has arrived just in time for the Superbowl. The costume costs 75 credits, and you get an outfit featuring a helmet, reflective eye paint, a uniform, and a football. If you have the costume on, press the spacebar to toss the football up in the air. Rumor is that if you turn your costume purple like the Minnesota Vikings, then you’ll fumble the football instead.

There are four colors you can wear for the outfit: green, red, blue and purple.

Another item that appeared in the Poptropica Store this week is the Avatar Studio Card. This is the same feature as the Avatar Studio that came out last year, but now you can activate it from inside the game. All it really does is open up a browser window on the Avatar Studio page. But hey, it’s a free item!

Mythology characters

The Poptropica creators have been really busy and been posting a lot about the upcoming Reality TV Island. But they also snuck in a new post on the Poptropica Blog with some characters from a different island. They didn’t say much about it besides asking us to guess what the island is all about. Here is what the characters look like:

Mythology characters on Poptropica

The filename for the screenshot is mythologyChars.jpg which probably means that this new island has something to do with Mythology. The characters look like Greek or Roman gods like Hades and Athena. That would be really fun and cool if there was a whole Poptropica island about Mythology, especially if you had to perform a lot of the feats in Mythology like the twelve labors of Hercules or things like that. We’ll find out eventually. In the meantime, there are still more screenshots and posts about Reality TV Island, so hopefully it will be released very soon!

The Poptropica Creators are getting busy in their blog with posting some new teasers and updates for Poptropica Reality TV Island. This new island has been discussed for a very long time, but now it looks like it’s really coming out soon! Just a few weeks before Counterfeit Island came out, the creators began posting screenshots of Comic Kid touring the island. Now they’re doing the same for Reality TV island. There are two new posts up on the blog from Hazmat Hermit and Comic Kid.

Hazmat’s post talks about an event in the mission called the Leaky Jar Race and it features a screenshot (see below) of someone running around with a jar of water on his head and being chased by a wild boar.

Watch out for that wild boar!

Comic Kid’s post is pretty short and displays a screenshot of a colorful fountain shaped like a big fish with water spouting from its mouth.

Counterfeit Island is now officially open for everyone to play on Poptropica. Before today, it was only available to players who purchased an early access pass for five hundred credits. But now everyone can get in! It’s a very fun island to play with a lot of secrets, surprises and cheats.
In other news, the Poptropica Creators have started to blog about Reality TV island on the official Poptropica Blog. They’re even posting a few screenshots of the new island, so it looks like Reality TV will be coming soon too!

Finding the torn peices on counterfiet island

Counterfeit Island is going to leave early access tomorrow and become available for everyone! So get ready Poptropica people! If you bought your early access pass, then you want to make sure you complete the island today so that you get 200 credits instead of just 100. And if you weren’t able to get early access, don’t worry because Counterfeit Island is only a day away.

Torn Picture Pieces
One thing that a lot of people are having trouble with are the torn picture pieces. There are six pieces scattered across the island that you need to find in order to assemble a picture of a gargoyle. You use the completed picture to figure out how to position the pieces that appear on a lock that gets you after-hours access to the museum. Here’s where all of the six torn picture pieces are located (with screenshots!)

cloudy with a chance of meatball returns

There’s a new installment of the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs mission in Poptropica. This September,there was an ad mission for the release of the movie in theaters. Now the movie is coming out on DVD and Blu Ray so there’s another advertisement. The mission is new and so are the rewards. Your Poptropica character needs to be between 6 and 11 years to see the mission, which is in the Main Street area of some of the islands (try Super Power island).

This advertisement mission is very quick and easy to do. To start, go inside the building and talk to Flint. He’s the guy with the messy brown hair and wearing the white lab coat. He’ll tell you to take the helicopter to retrieve his invention on top of an ice cream mountain. The helicopter is located above you and to the left. Just jump up on the platforms (or fly if you have that super power!) and you’ll see it. Click on the helicopter to be transported away to ice cream mountain. Then all you need to do is jump up and get the invention. Then jump down and click on the pink spoon.

Next a mini-game will launch where you need to avoid falling food and jump over food obstacles on the slopes of ice cream mountain while you zoom down using the pink spoon as a sled. You need to survive for 60 seconds and have three lives.

The rewards for completing the mission are two new costumes, the Sugar Cone Outfit and the Spaghetti Outfit.

the spy next door ad room

There are two new advertisement missions available this week on Poptropica. One is for the upcoming movie, The Spy Next Door. You need to be between the ages of 6-11 to see this mission and you’ll find it on Main Street in the first few islands, like Early Poptropica and Shark Tooth Island. This is a simple timed mission where you have to rescue several kids and a pig and then set some traps for spies who are about to invade the house. Yes, you read that right. You have to save a pig.

This is a pretty easy mission to do. Go inside the mission and talk to the kid standing just inside. He’s the babysitter and he needs your help. Then you can click on the Start button to begin and you’ll have 60 seconds. Head to the right and set the trap on the TV. To set the trap, click on the TV and hold the mouse button down until the progress bar fills up completely. Then run to the right and get the first kid, who’s over in the kitchen. Now just make your way up the different staircases and set the remaining two traps and find the other kids. Oh, and the pig!

The rewards for completing the mission are a pass that gets you into a special spy room. There isn’t much to do there besides watch a trailer for the movie. Hmmm, I guess that’s exactly what they want us to do! LOL. The other item you get is pretty cool. It’s a flamethrower. You can hold it and then it shoots a little bit of flame when you press the spacebar.

Update: OK, thank you to everyone in the emails who points out that Construction Guy does appear in Counterfeit Island. He’s blocks the way to certain parts of the island when night comes. I must have missed him. And there’s one new update to Balloon Boy. You can see him in the background when you’re on the Scooter chase sequence (see the screenshot below). Go, Balloon Boy, go!

the mysteries of construction man on counterfiet island. Where is he?

A lot of people are writing emails asking what happened to the Construction Guy in Counterfeit Island. If you remember back in November, the creators posted some sneak peek screenshots of characters we would meet in Counterfeit Island. The first turned out to be the security guard up in the museum security office. The third is the woman who leads the tour of the underground tunnels. But the guy in the middle, who is wearing coveralls and a construction helmet, doesn’t seem to appear anywhere on the island. Did we miss him or did he get dropped from the island before it was released? Have you seen him on Counterfeit Island? If so, post in the comments!

Many people are also asking what happens to Balloon Boy. When you give him a green balloon, he takes off in the air. This is a joke by the Poptropica Creators that references the big Balloon Boy hoax from October when everyone thought a young boy from Colorado was trapped inside a giant weather balloon that had taken off from his parent’s backyard. In Counterfeit Island’s joke version, we see little Balloon Boy fly off into the air but never return. You can watch the TV in the Web Cafe and see scenes of him flying away. But what will happen to poor little Balloon Boy in Poptropica? Will we ever see him again? We need answers!

Scary Leaf's resignation note

Hello poptropicans it's SL.
I'm sorry to say that I'll be leaving the Poptropica blog in a day or two and quiting the game of poptropica. All I can say is that I'm pursuing other interests like track and field. I've had a good run here on the Poptropica blog and posted a lot of cool stuff and even a few cheats, and a few island guides.
I've really enjoyed the game of Poptropica and just because I quit doesn't mean you have to. You can continue to enjoy it.

No, there’s no walkthrough yet but we’re working on it! Poptropica Counterfeit island just came out and the full Counterfeit Island walkthrough will appear here just as soon as we solve it. If it’s as complicated as Astro-Knights Island was, it might be a little while, but keep your eyes peeled and we’ll release it soon. So far it looks like a lot of fun and there are some really challenging parts. I hope nothing as bad as those lava platforms on Fire Planet in Astro-Knights!

You can play Counterfeit Island right now if you get an Early Access pass from the Poptropica Store. It costs 500 credits, which you can buy or earn if you do all the Islands. If you follow some of the other island walkthroughs here on the site, you can earn 500 credits pretty quickly. Remember that if you’ve solved them already, you can just start a new character and do them again to get 500 credits really fast.

The Poptropica Creators posted a new video on YouTube that shows a promotion for Counterfeit Island. Among other things you get to see some of the scenes from Counterfeit Island. All you really learn from the video is that there’s an art thief who’s going to try and steal some paintings from the museum on the island and you need to figure out who the thief is. It looks like you’ll encounter the thief in one scene in the dark but we don’t really know for sure.

The creators also announced that there will be a sneak peek period for Counterfeit Island, just like there was for Astro-Knights. And you’ll earn 200 credits instead of just 100 if you finish the island during the sneak peek period! Well, keep your eyes peeled here because we’ll post the full walkthrough just as soon as we can so that you can earn those bonus credits!

There’s another new update on the Poptropica Creator’s Blog entitled, Did someone say, “Counterfeit Island?” It features a new screenshot of Comic Kid exploring the new island. He explains that the locals on the island he’s exploring refer to it as Counterfeit Island. It’s not certain that this will be the official name of the new island on Poptropica, but we’ll see.

This picture definitely relates to the one released a few days ago with Comic Kid standing inside a Jazz cafe. This picture features Comic Kid standing on a fishing boat with the name (or partial name) RIBICA. There’s also a bell tower in the background. Could be some clues. It seems to be a trash boat and comic kid and the boat is near a dock. Maybe you get to pilot the boat just like in big nate!Or maybe he rides the boat from a city( in the image) to the island. Counterfiet island. The name sounds cheap. But if this new island is released what about RTV or the French themed island? All that work for nothing!!!!

If your Poptropica character is between the ages of 10 and 12, then you can play in a new Poptropica advertisement mission for Monsters, Inc. There are two prizes if you can complete it, the Monsters Inc. Theatre Room and the Monsters Inc. Boo Outfit. The Poptropica creators added the Boo Outfit recently because the first prize was pretty lame.

This is a pretty hard mission. You need to collect colored cards while avoiding the guys in the yellow suits. Here’s how to do it.

First, enter the mission. Then head up and to the right past the doors that are moving on the conveyer and you’ll find one of the cards. Then go all the way to the top left by riding up the platform elevators and you’ll find the blue card. Once you get both cards, return to the platform right where you started. There are two gray objects that hold doors in place. Click on one of them and then select your blue card.

You’ll arrive inside a bedroom. Collect the two cards here and then exit the room. Then click on the gray door holder thing again and select the light blue card. You’ll be in another room. Find the orange card. Then exit the room and click on the gray door holder one more time. Select the orange card and you’ll arrive in another bedroom with a girl inside. Click on her to rescue her and end the mission.

You’ll get the theatre room and the boo outfit as rewards. The theatre room just puts you inside a room where you can watch Monster Inc. trailers. Boring! The Boo Outfit looks pretty cool,

secret poptropica project made by creator's?

Hey over here! Yess. Psst. Yes, I mean you. This is Zanzy Clown. We have a secret announcement to alert. Someone we know has gotten information that the creator's are planning something big and secret! Here's what we got from him through email. Keep your voices low...

All I can tell you is that it involves profiles, ranking systems and what food you like/ favorite color and the games you've won.

After that there was no reply...So why do we beilive him? First of all his email adress was poptropicacreator at a website. We aren't revealing it because he asked us not too. Second of all he has some neat pictures for proof. We're sorry but those pictures are so secret he won't let us post them. I'
ll try to get some though!

this is Scary Leaf here. Beside on the news of a new poptropica island, I'd like to introduce a fun unrelated to poptropica game. It's been quite a while before I've posted something unrelated to poptropica before. This image is from a website called dragcave.net. It is currently an egg and if it recieves enough clicks on the image it will hatch into a baby dragon. Once that grows (by people clicking it more) it will grow into an adult dragon. So please click! Comic kid returns+ a new island?

Well, comic kid has finally returned to the poptropica creator's blog on his new blog entry. There has also been announced a new island! could the scene comic kid is in possibly be that of a multiplayer room for a new island? It looks as if it is a multiplayer room, it says: Jazz Cafe and has a stage with a lot of instruments and speakers. There are seats and tables. Comic kid is holding a mug of hot choclate which he appears to be enjoying. Could this be a new island? If so, what does this mean for RTV? and what about the french themed island mentioned in earlier post? could there be 3 seperate islands? (French themed) (RTV) (New island mentioned in post)Guess we'll just have to wait...

Naboot island walkthrough

Nabooti Island is a lengthy quest in Poptropica that takes you across the continent of Africa on a very exciting adventure in search of several lost jewels with mysterious powers. In the course of this adventure, you’ll explore pyramids, go deep into a diamond mine, and even encounter strange ghosts from the past. Get ready for an incredible journey! This walkthrough will show you everything you need to know to complete Poptropica Nabooti Island.

The Museum
Your very first stop is the Nabooti African Museum, which is just to your left when you arrive on Nabooti Island. Go inside the museum, run to the left and drop down to the first floor. Then walk over to the right until you get to the Nabooti Monument. Spek with the woman standing next to it and she will tell you the tale of the missing jewels. When she asks you to help find the jewels, accept her offer and she will give you a map of Africa.

Now head outside the museum and walk to the far left. You’ll see a plane. Click on the seat (the cursor should say ‘Fly!’) A map of Africa will appear and the plane will follow your mouse cursor. Fly to the right until you see a dot labeled, Mountains of the Moon. Click on this dot and your plane will land there.

Mountains of the Moon
The first part of this area can be incredibly frustrating. The basic idea is to get all the way to the top while avoiding the boulders that come crashing down on you. The goats will also head-butt you if you get too close to them. To start, run to the left and jump over the goats in your path. When you get to the far left, stop and let the goat come and butt you. He will send you flying in the air and you’ll land safely on the ledge above.

Jump onto the trees to the right of the ledge and then jump up when you see a woman above you. Speak with her and she’ll tell you she’s having trouble getting one of the cactus figs on the cliff. Jump up to the left and collect the Opuntia Fruit (a.k.a. cactus fig). Then run to the right and jump over the waterfall, and head back up to the left, avoiding the goats and boulders if possible. Keep jumping up on the icy ledges until you get to the upper-right corner. You’ll see an old man above you but you can’t jump directly to him. Instead, do a running jump to the left to get to the platform and then jump back across to stand next to the old man in front of the cave.

The old man will challenge you to a game of Mancala. Once you begin the game, you’ll learn the rules if you don’t already know them. When you win, you can enter the cave behind him.

Drop down the left side to get to the bottom, where you’ll find an old cell phone. There are some cool cell phone tricks you can use to get special costumes, but for now, just keep going. Jump up the platforms to return to the starting location and then jump onto the narrow platforms to the right. You need to keep moving to avoid the falling icicles and you might fall a few times before you get across. If you do, just return up the platforms on the left and try again. Once you reach the end on the far right, you’ll find one of the Lost Jewels of Nabooti. This is the red jewel. Now return to the cave entrance and go outside. Then jump down to the right and make your way back to the plane.

I guess the cell phone reception in this cave wasn't strong enough to save this guy.

Blue Nile Falls
Fly the plane to Blue Nile Falls on your map. When you arrive, jump up onto the platforms and go up to the top where you will see a purple flower called an Egyptian Blue Lily. Jump on top of it to put it in your inventory. Now jump down and to the right across the waterfall to get to another set of platforms and climb up those.

You’ll arrive on a platform where there’s a woman standing with a chicken, a fox, a bag of feed and a basket attached to a rope and pulley. Talk to her and you’ll discover she needs help getting all three items across. Offer to help her. This is a classic puzzle where only one of the three items can be moved at a time, and certain pairs of items (like the fox and the chicken) can’t be left together unattended. Here’s the correct order of how to move everything across.

Bring the chicken to the left side and go back with an empty basket.
Bring the feed to the left side and go back with the chicken.
Bring the fox to the left side and go back with an empty basket.
Bring the chicken to the left side.

You need to move the fox, chicken and feed over in the correct order.

Congratulations! You did it. Your reward for helping the woman is that she tells you about a hidden cave behind a bush on the right side of the waterfall. Jump down and to the right. If you set it up correctly, you’ll land right in front of the cave. Click on it to go inside.

There are several narrow platforms you need to jump across inside the cave. If you fall down, just jump back up on the left side and try again. Watch out for the stalactites that fall from the ceiling. When you get to the end, you’ll find the purple jewel of Nabooti. Once you have it, head back outside and return to your plane.

Return to Nabooti
Now you must make a quick return trip to Nabooti to make a trade with one of the merchants. Fly there and then speak to the woman wearing the orange clothing. She will offer to trade your Egyptian Blue Lily for a Desert Turban. Say yes and once the trade is complete, head back to your plane.

Giza
The next stop is Giza at the mouth of the Nile River near the top of the map. As soon as you arrive, open up your backpack and put the Desert Turban on. This will disguise you to look just like one of the {tomb raiders|workers} digging at the pyramid. Walk over to the first one and he will give you a shovel. Pay close attention to the shovel handle. It has the name Vince Graves and a phone number (555-6789) carved into it. Now pull out your cell phone and dial that number. It will cause the phone to ring in the tent to the right and the boss will go inside the tent to answer it. As soon as he does, the workers all run away.

Go to the outside of the tent and click on the backpack sitting on the ground. Inside there is a Moon Stone. Take it and then jump up on top of the Sphinx’s head. Then use the moon stone. It will cause a moonbeam to appear and magically open the tomb door at the bottom of the Sphinx. Jump down and go inside.

You’re now inside the tomb and you’ll encounter a series of tricky puzzles that you need to solve. The first puzzle is some rotating blocks. Walk all the way to the right and click on the panel you see. Now you need to get all four pieces to be horizontal. Clicking on one causes the other three to rotate. The correct order to click is (looking from left to right) the first piece, then the third piece, and finally the fourth piece. When all four pieces are horizontal, the platforms to the right will form a bridge that you can cross. Keep moving to the right and then jump up. You’ll soon arrive at the second puzzle.

In the second puzzle, you need to push the blocks on top of the platform down and arrange them underneath to match the layout on the wall. It’s a little tougher than it first seems because you need to do things in a certain order. If we number the blocks from 1 to 4 going from left to right, here is what to do.

Push block 4 down on the right side of the platform and then push it to the left so that it’s a little bit past the left edge of the platform above.
Push blocks 1 and 2 down on the left side of the platform and then push them to the right so that they’re past the right edge of the platform above.
Jump on top of blocks 1 and 2 and stand in the middle and then click down to get inbetween them. Then push block 1 back to the left until it’s touching block 4.
Go back up on the platform and push the remaining block 3 down to the right.
Jump down and get on the right side of block 2, which is now the last block on the right. Push it towards the middle.
Jump over to the left and push the other blocks towards the middle.
All of the blocks should now line up in the correct order in the middle. Once you get them exactly right, a hidden door up above will open up. If you mess up, you can pull the reset handle and start over. Once the door opens, jump to the right of the blocks and push them all the way to the left wall. Then jump up on the blocks and jump up to the platform that just opened up. Run through the hall and jump down and go to the left, past the pottery on the ground. You’ll arrive at the next puzzle.

Now you must jump up another series of platforms. Each one has different hieroglyphics (pictures) on it and you must jump on them in the correct order or they will all come crashing down and you’ll have to start at the beginning. The correct order is as follows:

Jump on the picture of the person.
Jump on the picture of the boat on water.
Jump on the picture of the bird with the staff.
Jump on the picture of the eye over the long shape.
Now you can jump onto the row of bricks above your head. Walk a little to the left and climb the rope. When you land on the rope, the bricks below you will crash to the ground. When you reach the top of the rope, you will arrive at the final (and hardest) puzzle in the tomb.

In the final puzzle room, there are four columns and each one has a switch on it. Clicking the switch causes sand to fall and start filling up the room. You need to click on the switches in the correct order and you need to move very quickly. The correct order is the fourth column, followed by the second column, then the third column, and then finally the first column. When you get all four switches, the sand will stop flowing and the sarcophagus in the the middle of the room will open to reveal blue Nabooti jewel. Walk over to claim it and then run out of the Sphinx and return to your plane.

Kaya Forests
The next stop is the Kaya Forests. Go to the right of the plane once you land and then jump onto the roof of the second hut. Then jump up into the trees and you will find a gold nugget in one of the treetops. Jump down to the ground and look for a giant tortoise shell. Go into your backpack and use the Opuntia Fruit. You’ll walk over to the left and place it on the ground. The tortoise will wake up and walk over to the fruit to eat it. Now go over to the small hole where the tortoise was sitting and use the shovel in your backpack. You’ll uncover an Ebony Elephant figure and two strange ghosts will appear. Click on the one on the left and he’ll tell you to return a Fingo to him for a reward. Head back to the plane.

Second Return Trip to Nabooti
Fly back to Nabooti and speak to the woman in the blue outfit. Trade the elephant figurine for a Fingo. Now talk to the man and trade your gold nugget for a digital camera. Head back to the plane.

Return to Kaya Forests
Fly back to the Kaya Forests and speak to the ghost again. Tell him you have found the Fingo and he will give you the green Nabooti jewel as a reward. Go back to the plane.

Safari
The next stop is the safari. Walk to the right and you’ll meet Big Zeke, who runs the safari expedition. He’ll tell you that he needs to get seven good pictures of different animals. Tell him you’ll help and he’ll take you to the picture spot. This starts an easy mini-game where you need to take pictures of animals that are hiding. Here’s how to find them all. Move the camera with your mouse and click when you want to take the picture. Make sure the animal is completely out of its hiding spot when you take the picture.

There is a bird in the top left corner on a tree-top.
You’ll find a giraffe in the middle, next to a tree.
There is a zebra to the left of the giraffe.
The lion is right next to the zebra, hiding in the bushes.
There is a crocodile in the stream.
You’ll spot an elephant on the right side.
A gazelle will pop up in the bottom-right corner.

Press the close button in the upper-right when you have all seven good pictures and then Big Zeke will give you an old mining helmet as a gift for helping him take the pictures. Head back to your plane.

Diamond Mines
Fly South until you get to the bottom of Africa and click on the dot for the Diamond Mines. As soon as you arrive, open your backpack and put on the Miner’s Hart Hat. The run all the way to the right until you pass an electric fence and arrive at a control box with a dial and wires. Click on the switch between the red and green lights to turn off the electric fence. It will only stay off for a short time and a timer will appear in the lower left corner to show you how much time is left before the electric fence turns back on. Now move quickly to the left and run up to the top of the mound of dirt. Jump up onto the metal structure and the run up it until you fall through the gap. Keep running to the right until you reach a barrel of explosives below a hole in the fence wire. Jump on the barrel and then jump up through the fence. Your cursor should say ENTER here, so click to move to the next spot.

Run to the left until you get to a series of ramps. There are large red metal explosives carts coming down the ramps. Keep jumping up the ramps while avoiding the carts. Then go down into the chute where the carts are coming up from.

When you arrive in the next spot, you’ll see a switch with a green light and sparks shooting out of it. Click on the switch to turn it off. Then jump to the left side of the explosives barrel on your left and push it to the right until it stops against a rock. Some of the gunpowder leaks out of it as you push it along. Go back to the switch and click on it to turn it on. The sparks will light the gunpowder trail and then make the barrel and the rock explode. Turn the switch off and repeat this one more time, by pushing a second explosives barrel all the way to the far right where you’ll come up to a wall of rocks. Turn the switch on and they’ll all explode, revealing a passageway to the right.

Push the mine cart a little bit to the right and you’ll jump inside. Now you just need to avoid obstacles by ducking at the top and jumping over the stalagmites in the ground as you pass them. Time your jumps so that you jump as soon as you see the signs telling you to do so and duck down well before the cart nears the high points in the track. You’ll need to duck four times and jump three times. When you reach the end, you’ll arrive in the next room.

Jump when the signs tell you to.

Run all the way to the right and climb up onto the wall. Then jump back to the left onto the platform and then jump up again onto the second platform. There is a large black rock with diamonds still inside it. Click on the rock and you’ll play an easy mini-game where you need to find the final white Nabooti crystal with a magnifying glass. The Nabooti crystal is the one with a tiny inscription on it. It’s over on the left side and very easy to locate. Once you have it, climb up the rope and head back to your plane.

Final Return to Nabooti
Now that you have all the crystals, fly back to Nabooti and go inside the museum. Walk down to the bottom floor and speak with the woman next to the statue again. Now you need to place the crystals inside the statue in the correct order. From the bottom, the order is: yellow, orange, blue, white, red, green, purple. Once all the crystals are in place, the statue will turn into a spaceship and zoom into outer space. Congratulations, you’ve completed the Nabooti Island mission. Claim your medal as a reward!

Ice Age Dawn of The Dinosuars ad

There’s another new advertisement mission in Poptropica called Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs. In this mission, you have 90 seconds to help Scrat find twenty acorns. The acorns are scattered around in a small room, but you need to jump around on a lot of very tall cliffs and platforms to get them all. It might take a few tries to get all the acorns in time. You can find the ad entrance in Early Poptropica on Main Street, over to the right hand side where you usually see all of the ad missions. Good luck!

reality tv island

Reality TV Island is the upcoming quest on Poptropica. It has been marked as coming soon for a very long time, but has been repeatedly delayed for several reasons. In the meantime, many advertising mini-missions and some short quests like Poptropica Haunted House have been released, but Reality TV Island remains a mystery.

Reality TV Island was originally going to be launched in the earlier part of 2009, and at some point it was slated to come after the release of Big Nate Island. It was originally announced in September, 2008 on the Poptropica Creator’s Blog. But the next quest after Big Nate was Astro-Knights Island and there hasn’t been much talk about Reality TV Island since, except for a follow-up blog post in February, 2009 that showed a picture of some possible contestants you would compete with.

Here is how the creators originally described Reality TV Island in the September 2008 blog post:

You’ll arrive in a town that’s obsessed with TV. Even the smallest apartment has a 56″ flat-screen television hanging on the wall.

You’ll get a chance to appear as a star on a reality TV show, on a faraway deserted island. You’ll have to battle it out with your tribe members, avoid elimination, and become a hero to all of the people in your home town!

poptropica haunted house island available in store

Even though Halloween is over, you can still do the Poptropica Haunted House mini-quest. It’s no longer featured on the map but is instead available as a free item from inside the Poptropica Store. You can “buy” it and then do the mini-quest. Maybe this means we’ll be seeing more mini-missions in the future in the store. Meanwhile, we’re all still waiting for more news on the Reality TV Island quest. I wonder if we’ll see it this year?
